In early March, Ken Wong, the Executive Director of HKLSS, interacted with students from three academic schools at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Students representing the Schools of Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at CUHK, engaged discussions with Ken regarding the industry's potential in Hong Kong.

As investments in our industry grow in Hong Kong and China, the demand for expertise and professionals in related fields is on the rise. Yet, it remains challenging for graduates, especially those with undergraduate degrees, encounter difficulties securing positions aligned with their studies. Insufficient practical experience and professional networks may play a role in this employment challenge.

Prof KF Lau from the School of Life Sciences shared the existing resources and support available to CUHK Biomedicine students to enhance their competency and competitiveness. The schools also encourage students to participate in internships to acquire practical experience as a gateway to employment opportunities and better equip them for future careers in the field.

Over 80 students from CUHK, including those from the Schools of Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, and Pharmacy, participated in HKLSS Summer Internship Program in the past years. Worth noting that 5 students from CUHK School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy were selected as awardees in the Hong Kong Life Sciences Scholarship Awards in 2022/23 and 2023/24, with awardees from other universities.
