Ken Wong, Executive Director of HKLSS, visited students from three academic schools in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in early March. During the visit, he was greeted by Prof. KF Lau (School of Life Sciences), Dr. Anna Lau (School of Biomedical Sciences) and Prof. Joan Zuo (School of Pharmacy). Students from the Schools of Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences met with Ken to discuss the prospects of our industry in Hong Kong. With an increasing amount of investment in our industry in Hong Kong and China, there is a greater demand for expertise and professionals in the related fields. However, it is not easy for graduates, especially bachelor’s degree graduates, to be employed in areas related to their studies. A lack of practical experience and network might be considered part of the reasons. Prof. Lau from the School of Life Sciences shared about the existing resources and support provided for CUHK Biomedicine students to enhance their competency and competitiveness. The School also encourages students to take up internships in order to better prepare themselves for a future career in the field.
